Kattie Hogan was scheduled to present at this year's conference but is now unable to join us. Her session was "If You Really Knew About My Life... Using Mentor Texts with At-Risk and Special Education Students to Increase Literacy Engagement." Instead, she shared her session materials with me to share with you. :) JSC
Looking forward to seeing you this Friday, October 21st in Lansing. My session is entitled "Summarization Savvy". You will learn some excellent strategies to evaluate your students' learning. I will be in Room 110 at 1:40.
Attached is my handout. If you want to contact me, my e-mail address is pamburrell@dmcibb.net

This is an additional note from the presenters:
"An important part of creative problem solving is that one must defer judgment on new ideas and just let them linger in one’s brain a while. One way to foster this kind of thinking where expectations, at least for a short while, are lowered. This can be accomplished by becoming more playful. A short video accessible from youtube.com about approaching idea generation in more "playful" ways is available at:

This video was designed to set the mood for brainstorming and for class discussions about divergent thinking."
