As an ELA secondary educator, what can MCTE do to help you?  Are you looking for new ideas?  Do you just want to discuss your great ideas, or maybe what is challenging in your classroom, with others?  How can we help?  Perhaps you have a great idea that could help someone else.  Feel free to share!

I would love to gather any instances of English teachers using Smartboards in their classroom. Mine was installed over the weekend, and I'm looking for ideas.

Hi, Sara!  I'm an ELA consultant at the Eastern Upper Peninsula ISD.  I asked one of my teachers who just got a Promethean board if she would like to share what she's doing with it.  She feels like her ideas are really basic, but I told her that for someone just starting out, the list of ideas would be especially useful.  Here's what she says:
"I am just beginning to use my Promethean (yes, I have one of THOSE) in the English classroom.  I do use it quite a bit for basic things -- like showing DVD's when I have one, or clips from YouTube to supplement a literature text.  I also use it to project Word documents.  I plan to create little mini grammar lessons as interactive reviews.  I have projected poems for group interpretation and I have projected checklists for group discussions.  I am still learning to not only use the board but to plan lessons with the thought that it is another tool at my disposal.  Integration is slow, but I'm getting there!"
Hope some of this was helpful!  Good luck with your new resource!

You can be of great help! I'm looking for resources for my county's career center.  Working on alignment of English 12 via Common Core for some of our CTE courses. Although the staff is learning they have a wealth of lit and litnon fiction in their heads but am looking for places where we can find literature and literary nonfiction that meets the needs of vaious tech courses. Have spent considerable time online already--can find many things by genre, but hard to tell what is always 'new' or if the content will be appropriate to the course (for example--health technology or zoo/animal science). Thanks for any help!
