The Devil and Tom Walker 1 Reply

This is the best place for our discussion to begin, folks.  Sorry for the confusion. The first article we'll read is from a 2005 issue of LAJM.  It is written by a colleague of mine at Grand Valley,…Continue

I'm confused, Rob (and everyone else). Have you started the discussion on the article? If so, where is it? Kia Jane

Rob, When do you plan to begin the actual discussion? (translation: when should we all have the article read/reread?)

Nancy-I love that you've been able to give LAJM an online presence! Thanks!!!

Hi, everyone.  I am Nancy Patterson, one of the co-editors of the Language Arts Journal of Michigan.  I taught high school and middle school English for a million years before I came to GVSU's College of Education.  I've always been especially interested in the teaching of writing and everything that goes along with that including technology integration and the teaching of grammar.

I'm Allen and though I prepare secondary English teachers, and offer graduate classes to teachers inservice, it has been 24 years since I taught secondary myself, so you should take what I say with a grain of salt.  It's easy to talk about issues in secondary education when you are a professor. I have tried to stay involved and listen to teachers.  Perhaps that is a starting point.

Thanks, Rob. I am pretty sure that Brian is a ning member and has sent me a message early on.

@Mary Anna.  I'm not sure Brian is a member here, but I'll send a message to Jen.  I'll also twist Brian's arm to join up.

Hello all. I am Mary Anna Kruch, former middle school and university educator, now retired. I was thinking that it would be great to invite Brian White and Jen Haberling, the authors of the first article of discussion, to join us.
