MCTE Fall Conference 2011

Revitalizing the Dream, Renewing Our Spirit
Friday, October 21, 2011
Kellog Hotel and Conference Center
East Lansing, Michigan
Featuring Dr. Tom Romano and Poet Bard Terry Wooten

On Friday, October 21, 2011, the Michigan Council of Teachers of English will welcome two dynamic, award-winning authors and presenters to our annual fall conference to inspire our conversations on lan- guage, teaching, and learning: Dr. Tom Romano and Terry Wooten.

Michigan teachers are creative, intelligent, and effective. Across the state, pre k - university teachers and professors, just like you, are using best-practice techniques in the classroom. This year’s conference will offer the opportunity for professionals to gather in one location to share new ideas, texts, lesson plans, and techniques that will renew and revitalize the already stellar work that is happening in classrooms across Michigan.

Conference sessions will cover a range of topics, including:

  • how you are differentiating instruction in your classroom.
  • a new way to approach classic texts.
  • your best-practice techniques for reading and/or writing instruction.
  •  the technology that you are using in the classroom to make learning more meaningful for your students.
  • how you and your colleagues are using the new core content standards to improve education
  • something great that you are doing in your classroom that you want to share with others.

Note on Accommodations

If you require overnight hotel accommodations, reservations at the group rate must be made by September 20th to guarantee availability. For directions to the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, visit the hotel web site. As with conference registration fees, participants and presenters must take care of their own housing costs.
